CHS Celebrates Black History Month
CHS Media Center
Mrs. Rosalind Ashanti-Alexander, CHS library assistant, created displays for Black History Month. The displays highlight African American literature, authors, and a small Bio of Dr. Carter G. Woodson the founder of The Association for the Study of African American Life and History. In February 1926 he launched the celebration of "Negro History Week" the precursor of Black History Month. The displays enable students and staff to gain a broader understanding of Black history that acknowledges the struggles as well as celebrate the achievements of black Americans
