March School Board Highlights
The March board meeting provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the achievements of our students and staff. The meeting commenced with a ceremonial opening led by two students from Lincoln Elementary, Kalub Naranjo and Eric Meredith, who led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Oklahoma Pledge. Principal Angie Morgan introduced them, setting a positive tone for the evening.
During the meeting, Brad Wilkerson of Chickasha's Chicken Express recognized the Employees of the Month for February and March. Coach Dalton Streber was honored as the Certified Employee of the Month for February, commended for his teaching at BWECC and coaching in multiple sports. Tony Ehrlich, with 14 years of service in the district's Maintenance department, was acknowledged as the Support Employee for February. In March, Layla Pargali-Barger, a teacher in the Quality Academy, was named Certified Employee of the Month for her work, while Linda Reed, a 23-year veteran working in the kitchen at Grand Avenue, received the Support Employee of the Month award. Sarah Ketchum-Lopez was recognized as the Support Employee of the Quarter for her role as a Bus Monitor for the District. These individuals were praised for their hard work and dedication. Once again we thank Brad and Kelly Wilkerson for their unwavering support of our schools, highlighting the importance of community partnerships.
Coach Chad Randle and his wrestling team were celebrated for their achievements during the season. The team was honored as "State Runner-Up" and "District Champs." Individual accomplishments were also acknowledged, including Canaan Brummet as the Undefeated State Champion, Dylan Bratt as a 2-Time Undefeated State Champion, and State Placers Jarrett Patty, Colby Longanacre, and Cole Beier. State Qualifiers Joshua Moore, Clint Longanacre, Cooer Brumley, Tyren Alexander, Jonavin Mullins, and Ayden Benitez were also recognized, with high expectations set for this team's future performances.
The meeting continued with a report from staff attendees to a RTI Summit the previous month. Principals Angie Morgan and Kathy Wenzel, along with Assistant Principal Daryl Williamson, shared insights into the impact of the conferences. Curriculum Director, Milton Bowens, also presented future plans for the district, aimed at further enhancing academic focus across campuses. The board expressed appreciation for the efforts of all students and staff, looking forward to finishing the school year on a strong note.
