CPS Staff Celebration 2023
Tuesday, May 1st, the Professional Development Committee hosted the Staff Celebration 2023. The committee spent months preparing to celebrate the people who make Chickasha Public Schools so successful. Among those recognized were our retirees, staff members who have reached significant milestones in years of service at CPS and some of the many staff members whose dedication to the students and staff at Chickasha makes them stand above the crowd and inspire us all to grow and develop.
Jennifer Phillips was recognized by Julie Josey for her work with the Indian Education Program. Mrs. Phillips goes above and beyond to support and contribute to our JOM Program by attending meetings, volunteering at events/fundraisers, and adding new ideas and ways to promote our Native American community! She also incorporates the rich Native American history into her classroom curriculum so that all students can benefit and appreciate the culture! She is an amazing asset to Chickasha Public Schools as well as the Johnson O'Malley Program!
If one were to stand and talk about our district teacher of the year’s engaging lessons and high AP Art scores, you’d be impressed and understand why Allison Cofer was chosen as this year’s teacher of the year, but we all know that our students and teachers are so much more than scores on a test. Ever since her first year teaching Allison is happy to meet students where they are and bring them into the rich and complex world of fine art. Her passion and enthusiasm can make even the moodiest and angstiest students find a way to express themselves in art. She teaches them not only to appreciate and become better artists, she helps them find beauty in the world. Congratulations to our 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year, Allison Cofer.
Behind the scenes in classrooms and offices across the district are the support staff, they work tirelessly to make sure we can get things done. We are so lucky to have support staff, who like our teachers go above and beyond every day, doing more than expected, giving it their best and ensuring the success of our students. Mrs. Judi has been part of the success of so many students and teachers. She has been a smiling face at morning drop off, no matter the weather. A shoulder to cry on on really tough days, a pen pal, a cheerleader on the sidelines of so many games and competitions. So many students and teachers can say the same or similar things about Ms. Judi. We are so thankful for the difference Mrs. Judi Thomas makes as our Support Person of the Year.
Our District has several retirees including: Cynthia Turner, Rebecca Kent, Kent Reed, Renee Stallings, Kelly Hair, Rosa Halcomb, Judi Thomas, Thomas Jeffries and Sue Stuke (not pictured).
